The eighth edition of HIP – Horeca Professional Expo, the largest innovation event geared towards the Horeca Channel, took place from February 19th to 21st, bringing together over 49,000 professionals, 684 exhibiting firms, and 757 international speakers in Madrid. Additionally, during the three-day fair, the Hospitality 4.0 Congress was held, featuring 372 sessions and 32 summits where fundamental topics for the future of the sector were discussed, including management digitalization.

At Gstock, we have once again participated, bringing our vision of management digitalization where integration and collaborative innovation are key to keeping profitability under control.

In the video below, we share our experience at HIP, through the perspectives of Javi and Nacho from Omol Video, in just a minute and a half.
At HIP, we presented our latest innovations, such as our new feature for digitizing invoices using OCR technology developed by Docuindexa for Gstock, or the efficient labeling feature that your kitchen needs, now available in Gstock thanks to our integration with Datecode Genie and Elder Laboratorio.

The star of our booth was our Superhero, Gstocker, and his Superpowers to make controlling the profitability of your business a reality and not an impossible mission. Gstocker had to give it his all: we had full capacity at the booth for all three days of the fair, both for inquiries and for Gstock and Docuindexa demos. The Datecode Genie labeling tool also generated a lot of interest once again.

HIP is the main annual meeting point for the Horeca Channel. We were delighted to welcome many great clients to our booth, such as Goiko, Grupo Sibuya, Grupo Barbillón, Gagawa, ADH Hoteles, or Basque Culinary Center, among others. Thank you all!

Innovations to Digitize the Supplier-Hospitality Relationship

At Gstock, we believe that digitizing the supplier-hospitality relationship is key for real progress towards 100% digital management of the Horeca Channel, as well as improving profitability and keeping it under control. At HIP, we presented our innovations in this regard.

The main one was the OCR-powered invoicing digitization tool, a SaaS solution enhanced by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning that digitizes invoices and bills with all their product lines. Developed by Docuindexa, this tool allows you to control and improve the profitability of your business through the automatic extraction of data from invoices and bills, including all their product lines.

The tool has an accuracy rate of over 98% and allows you to reduce the time by more than 80% that you dedicate to digital management of invoices and bills, replacing manual data entry and enabling line-by-line control.

Thanks to our integration with Docuindexa, all data and fields from invoices, bills, and other documents, in paper or digital format, are automatically incorporated into Gstock upon extraction, ensuring total, effective, and real-time stock control. In the video below, we share the full demo of the invoicing digitization tool, presented by our CEO, Federico Fritzsch, and Docuindexa’s CEO, Carlos Aparisi.
Additionally, we presented the latest updates to our Connection HUB for suppliers, which also contributes to facilitating the digitization of the supplier-hospitality relationship. We also introduced the functionality of efficient kitchen labeling, through integration with Datecode Genie and ELDER Laboratory.

Our team didn’t have a moment of rest during the three-day event, especially our Sales Director, Carlos Saludes, whom you can see in the video below giving one of the demos we offered at our booth during the fair.

Objective: Digital Management for Profitability Control

Within the framework of HIP, the Hospitality 4.0 Congress is held, which this year has expanded to include 12 auditoriums, 32 summits, 372 sessions, and over 757 speakers. Our CEO, Federico Fritzsch, has once again participated as a speaker (for the eighth time), this time in three sessions where he analyzed the current state of the digital highway, presented the successful case of Ramsés District in management digitization, and moderated an interesting panel on digitalization of the supplier relationship, with representation from the entire value chain of the Horeca Channel.

In his presentation on the current state of the digitalization journey for the Channel, Federico outlined five points where the sector has progressed over the last decade, especially compared to last year. As he shared in the Digital Theatre to a full auditorium during his three sessions, over the past 12 months, five issues related to the digitalization of the Channel have been consolidated:

  • The interest in digitalization of management itself, in a more conscious manner.
  • Integrations, whose absence or deficient presence frustrates many digitalization projects.
  • New technologies in integrations.
  • Web applications (cloud).
  • And SaaS solutions on a pay-per-use basis.

Among the areas for improvement, Federico pointed out two: the integration of distributors’ and suppliers’ online platforms and portals with order and warehouse management platforms, and that integrations are preferably made with the latest technology. We share his full presentation in the video below.

Ramses District, a landmark in Madrid’s entertainment scene since 2007, is one of the most innovative and disruptive restaurant groups in the capital. It consists of five venues, all of them leading examples to follow: Ramses, Patio de Leones, The Kave, Lady Bongo, and Flamenco de Leones. After twelve weeks of hard work, careful planning, and commitment, Ramses District also serves as an example of how to effectively digitize management and focus on profitability.

Our CEO presented their success story at HIP, accompanied by the group’s owner, Jorge Ramses Llovet; Luis San Segundo, CEO of Cookdata (the Business Intelligence platform used by the group); Patricia Valdez, Food and Beverage Controller at Ramses District; and Arancha Padilla, the group’s CFO. You can watch the full panel in the video below. We highly recommend not missing it.

Our relationship with suppliers is crucial because it significantly and directly impacts operations: orders, receptions, invoicing, reconciliation of invoices and bills. That’s why the third session led by Federico at HIP was focused on describing an automation process that has successfully coordinated many of the actors involved in the ordering process: order, reception, invoice, reconciliation, and invoicing accounting.

The session featured participation from leading professionals and experts in the supplier-hospitality digitalization flow: Ramón Jiménez, co-founder and director of Grupo NOMO; Mireia Borrás, assistant to the management of CCO at Quantum; Daniel Ibáñez, Ecommerce & Digital Manager at Bidfood; and Marc Mañas from Khuen, Voxel’s CPO. We share the full video below.

Strategic Alliance with Voxel

During HIP, we also announced our strategic alliance with Voxel, which is very important for all our clients. This alliance aims to integrate both platforms with one goal: that as our client, you can fully digitize the entire supply chain, with electronic delivery notes and electronic invoices through a single connection.

Furthermore, if you are a user of both platforms, this alliance will allow you to add more features to electronic order issuance with the aim of saving time and money, achieving a harmonized and optimized supply process.

This alliance with Voxel is the result of months of work and, above all, of sharing a common vision on how to help achieve real and complete digitalization of the value chain in the sector. And what better way to seal it than with a toast and take the opportunity to celebrate Voxel’s 25th anniversary. Together, we continue to take steps so that you can keep your profitability under control thanks to total digital management.
